Murcia is benefiting from the majority of new golf courses planned for South East Spain, on the Costa Blanca & Costa Calida. In recent years Alhama Signature, Las Colinas, Saurines de la Torre, Aguilon Golf, Hacienda Riquelme and Peraleja Golf Resorts have opened their doors to golfers. There are atleast 11 more courses under construction, and due to open their doors in 2011/2012 are the eagerly anticipated Lorca Golf & Spa Resort, and Corvera Golf & Country Club."

Six of the candidates have publicly announced their intentions to host the biannual transatlantic women’s match play tournament. They are: Prosper Golf Resort in Celadna, Czech Republic; Gut Kaden Golf und Land Club, Hamburg, Germany; Sport & SPA Resort A-ROSA, Scharmützelsee, Sporting Club Berlin, Germany; La Manga Club, Región de Murcia, Spain; and Q Hotels Forest Pines Resort, North Lincolnshire, United Kingdom, supported by UK Sport."

Elaine writes "Corvera Golf & Country Club originally opened January 2010. 18 holes, par 72, 6,652 metres within 70 hectares. A course designed by José María Olazábal & Integral Golf Design.
Update 09/02/2013. Corvera reopened to the general public 01/12/12. Condition: Greens are very good. Tee Boxes are good having been reseeded during the final third of 2012. Fairways also overseeded last year and generally pretty good. Fairways are steadily improving over the winter months. Overall feedback by players, very good and good value. Driving Range: Open. Clubhouse Bar: Open. "

He burst onto the golf scene as a junior, winning The (British) Amateur Championship aged eighteen.
