Since last Tuesday, La Manga Club's 3 golf courses have hosted the Murcia Turística Open Golf Tournament, which is now into its eighth year.
This year once again, amateur golfers and celebrities have returned to the warm Murcia coast to enjoy a week of golf and to enjoy the great choice of entertainment that the resort offers both the players and their entourage.
As in the last seven years, the tournament has had a great reception from the audience and participants, who eagerly await this time to meet and compete for attractive prizes valued at more than 8,000 euros.
This year almost 200 players competed in the individual Stableford format, with three male categories and two female categories.
After eight years, this tournament has become an important date in the golfing calendar, nationally and internationally, and attracts major celebrity amateur golfers, which each year take advantage of the tournament to enjoy the unique environment of Murcia, with it's cuisine, climate and culture.
This year's celebrity golfer was the former goalkeeper of the German national football team, Oliver Kahn, who didn't want to miss the opportunity to compete in this tournament and make the most of the 5 day golf programme, which since withdrawing from football, admits that golf takes up most of his spare time.
With a handicap of 7.5, Kahn takes every opportunity to enjoy golf, and what better time to get away from the cold German winter and to enjoy the mild Murcia climate.
