Description: La Serena Golf & Beach Resort is set in a wonderful plot, just a short stroll from the sandy beaches and therapeutic waters of the Mar Menor. In addition, the resort enjoys superb high-speed access to the regional airport of San Javier (10 minutes), the historic cities of Murcia (35 minutes) and Cartagena (20 minutes), and the sensational La Manga Resort (20 minutes). The 18 hole golf course designed by Manuel Pinero encircles the 500 year old Torre del Rame, which was originally built to keep a watch out for the notorious pirates who took refuge in the tranquil waters of the Mar Menor.

Facilities: This is an excellent facility and will become popular with local golfers and golf holidaymakers. There is an excellent Clubhouse, Hotel, Restaurant, bar, practice area, changing room for 100 golfers, club lockers and club hire is available. A range of sporting facilities and 2 luxurious hotels are also planned for the future. There will also be a spa, tennis courts, a commercial area with shops, bars and restaurants. Among the most notable features of the new development is the construction of a cycle track which will link the key areas of the town. The project calls for extensive green areas and a new boulevard will traverse the golf course. The route of the main avenue Ávda 13th Octubre´ will be redirected as part of the new development and will form a new commercial axis with a host of shops, restaurants and cafeterias.
Course Information: La Serena Course Review by Ivie Davies I was fortunate to play La Serena on a mild and slightly wind free day, with it being close to the Mar Menor it can be expected to be similar to a links with wind coming off the sea or a Levante wind from the mountains.
