I recently played at La Torre with the exceptional value golf deal. With six par 3's and two par 5's it is relatively kind to the higher handicap golfer, but also provides a challenge to a whole range of golfing abilities.

The course tends to be more difficult over the inward 9 holes - I think that it's been designed so that you need the outward 9 to warm up! Despite the 2 demanding par 3's over water I found this to be a fun and challenging course.

    My Score:

First time I had played a Jack Nicholas course. Quite a well thought out layout which allows low handicappers to take risky shots on many holes and higher handicaps to go a safer alternative route - especially on the par 3's which typically were shooting over water.

Main critisism would be the amount of bunkers which started to get a bit tiresome after a while, although the sand was good quality and quite playable out of.

Course seemed to get the more interesting holes on the back nine, especially around 15-16.

At the moment they are offering a very good deal to the end of Feb of 32 Euros for a round of 18 including an excellent buffet lunch. I would imagine that once they have handed all the properties over to their owners, the course will be very busy as this Polaris resort comprises of mainly apartments - 2600 properties in total. Therefore tee times will eventually be gold dust - even if they close the course to pay-and-play's.

Along this road running from San Javier to Murcia there are many courses being developed, including several of the Polaris sites. The land around here is typically very flat so trying to create an interesting course is difficult for the designers - hence the over use of bunkers and sand to create an environment at La Torre.

Definately worth a go - especially with the current promotion!
